Their favored delicacies include&nbsp;wool and natural fibres such as&nbsp;cashmere, tweed, sheepskin, silk, fur,&nbsp;hair, and feathers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Females can lay up to 100 pinhead-sized eggs over a three-week period before they die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clothes-munching moths more likely in warmer southern England<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Flats or apartments are more susceptible to\nclothes moths as they have shared walls, according to the English Heritage\nsurvey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22 April 2018, UK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"404\" height=\"227\" src=\"http:\/\/termirepel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/B2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2054\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.termirepel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/B2-1.jpg 404w, https:\/\/www.termirepel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/B2-1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 404px) 100vw, 404px\" \/><figcaption> <br>Image:Warmer southern parts of England are more at risk from common clothes moths, according to the survey <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Common clothes moths are more predominant in warmer parts\nof southern England, according to a survey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the public were asked by English Heritage to monitor moths in their homes to help the charity look after its collection of historic wool carpets, tapestries, and period clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>English Heritage launched Operation Clothes Moth a year\nago after its experts witnessed the numbers of common or webbing clothes moths\ndouble, and observed the appearance of the pale-backed clothes moth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands of traps were handed out at English Heritage\nsites for the survey which collected data from 42 counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It discovered an &#8220;alarmingly high&#8221; number of pale-backed clothes moths and also revealed that the reported catch of the common<strong> clothes moth was significantly higher in London and the South East, where an average of 23 moths were found per trap &#8211; more than anywhere else in England.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warning that textile moths are on the rise in Irish homes and businesses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By Eimear Dodd \u250226 February 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncompany says there has been an increase in callouts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pest control provider, Rentokil has\nwarned textile moths are on the rise in Irish homes and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company says there has been <strong>an increase in callouts for moth infestations of 54% since 2015<\/strong>. Meanwhile, callouts to deal with the butterfly-like pests have increased by almost 14% in 2018 when compared with 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dublin&nbsp;was the county which accounted for the most callouts for\nmoths in 2018, with 53% of all callouts to the capital.
